Some of our fees are fixed and easy to quote. Because people come to us with problems that need working out - a diagnosis needs to be made,so it can be difficult to give an accurate idea of what the cost will be in the end. By way of example: Short consultations (we always allow a minimum of 30 minutes) will be from £50 - £95. Involved, and complex medical situations can take 30 to 90 minutes. These can be charged from £120 to £220. Cardiac testing can range from £150 for an artery scan to £295 for a heart scan. Diagnostic exercise ECG testing can cost £295 but for DVLA purposes (non-diagnostic) we charge £180. A normal Medical Check costs £350 whereas the most complex one, involving all the cardiac tests can cost £1200. Please NoteSCREENING IS NOT COVERED BY MEDICAL INSURANCE..At all times, exactly what tests are best to do, is a matter of discussion. Consultation allows this assessment. At the very least we will make recommendations as to what should be done and you can take this to your NHS GP. We are covered by all private medical insurance companies except BUPA.BUPA have denied us cover. Having been covered by BUPA since 1973, they recently withdrew cover because Dr Dighton is not signed onto the specialist register - and has never been an NHS consultant, having chosen to work for Universities and private practice only. Dr Dighton has always regarded the standard of NHS cardiology available in most places to be unacceptable. All his patients progress to angioplasty or bypass within one week if necessary - not 3 months! BUPA has set the standard for acceptance onto their specialist list as holding or having held an NHS consultant post. Dr Dighton has never wished to hold such a position, his career having progressed through London University as a Lecturer (hon Senior Registrar & First Assistant) to Chef de Clinique (Assistant Professor),at the Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam., a position which placed him in charge of the other consultant cardiologists. At the time, Dr Dighton was part of the team that lead the field of intracoronary streptokinase during the acute phases of a heart attack: work that preceded angioplasty. He had previous worked alongside the inventor of pacemakers (Geoff Davis) at St George’s Hospital London. ** read BUPA’s letter ** CONTINUE
